JOYCE AND MUSIC
A Distinct Identity

Hear the much-mythologised story of how Joyce might have been the next John McCormack had he not fluffed a sight-reading test. This missed opportunity was literature's gain, and he lost no opportunities to parade his love of music - of all kinds - in his fiction. Bawdy ballads, the sacred and the sacrilegious, and opera to music hall. He was not averse to musical burlesque either.
After the show, The Tatties and other performers will join us for dinner at the Hawthorn Hotel. You're welcome to join in the fun.
MEET Â SOME OF THE TALENT
MUSIC AND THEATRE DIRECTORS
Mary O'Driscoll - Music
Tref Gare - Theatre

THE TATTY TENORS
A comedy trio (and maestro) from Brisbane who sing for the fun and the joy of it: veterans of Melbourne and Dublin Bloomsdays, lots of charity gigs, footy openings, weddings and funerals and grand finals.
L to R: Ted Chapman, Jimmy Aherne, Ron Jackson, Ralph Devlin.
THE BRIGHT PARTICULAR STARS:Â
MERRYN HUGHES AND TORSTEN STROKIRCH
In another future for Molly, we see her drawn by the power of music both to Bloom (Chris Broadstock) and to Blazes Boylan.

YOUR HOST
Tref Gare
The multi-talented Tref Gare (Melbourne Shakespeare Company) is not just in charge of theatricals, but also our Host. As such he channels a famous Italian composer/teacher/maestro, Luigi Denza, and also your grandiloquent, indeed logorrheic, Music Hall Host.
